Many years ago, Simon & Schuster published Laura’s best-selling book, Feet First: A Guide to Foot Reflexology, now in its 21st printing and in the hands of over half a million people around the world. As the leading expert in Reflexology, the producer of “Live with Regis and Kelly” invited her to be on the show where, over several appearances, she became known as “The Foot Lady.”
Sometime later Regis Philbin lay in his hospital bed, dreading the kidney stone operation scheduled for the next day. Remembering Laura, his wife Joy called, desperate for any relief Laura could give Regis, who was terrified and wracked with pain.
Laura gave him reflexology and had him visualize the stones dissolving. The next morning, as they prepared him for surgery, his nurses were flabbergasted to discover that the kidney stones had dissolved overnight, his pain gone, saving him from having to go “under the knife.”
See It When You Believe It
A recent client’s voice quivered as she talked about how much she missed being in a relationship. Together Laura and she created a detailed visualization of her ideal partner, a passionate, caring, supportive man with a quick sense of humor and a twinkle in his eye. By the end of the session she glided out of the room, chomping at the bit to meet this guy.
She left and headed to the supermarket. While picking out some fruit a man approached her, asking, “How can I tell if these peaches are sweet and ripe?” They got to talking, he gently joking with her and she astonished by how much he matched her vision.
Well, you probably can guess what happened. They ended up going for coffee, which led to dinner and a movie, and to what is now a mutually fulfilling, loving relationship.The power of visualization in action.
